Karen Rono is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and an Associate in the Dispute Resolution Department of the firm.
She focuses her practice on civil and commercial litigation, before ordinary and special courts as well as arbitration tribunals, on matters related to contractual and extra-contractual civil liability, corporate disputes and competition. She has acted for corporations family businesses and private clients on corporate governance, environmental & land disputes as well as succession law.
Karen is regularly co-opted on a wide range of advisory and consultancy work by a variety of national and international enterprises on matters relating to compliance with Kenyan law, practice and procedure in addition to representing parties and/or other lead Counsel in court proceedings and arbitrations.
She is passionate about the advancement of the legal profession and thought leadership and as such has taken up membership in various professional bodies including:
- ADR Committee and Young Members Group Steering Committee under the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Kenya;
- Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (London & Kenya branch);
- Young International Council for Commercial Arbitration (Young ICCA)
- Young International Arbitration Group (YIAG) of the London Court of International Arbitration; and
- Young Mute Off Thursdays (a capacity building program for young ladies within the International Arbitration space) where she advances capacity building on areas in the International Arbitration space.
Additionally, Karen has a strong commitment to social justice and community development, a cause she pursues through her participation in various roles within the Rotary Club, Nairobi.

- Conducting legal research and drafting of legal pleading that have ultimately led to success representation of clients in a range of dispute resolution matters in areas of, contract law, employment , banking & finance, probate and succession, employment, Insolvency and land law.
- Assisting in drafting and reviewing of a variety of agreements including M&A transaction documents, employment contracts, collaborative agreements and MoUs.
